New UN marking requirements are here. We help you all the way.

Transporting dangerous goods safely requires more than the right packaging. It also requires keeping up with evolving regulations and ensuring compliance at every step of the supply chain. A recent update to the ADR regulations introduces new requirements for the placement of UN markings on approved packaging. While the change may seem small at first glance, it can affect a wide range of packaging solutions and requires attention from both packaging users and manufacturers. The good news? You do not have to navigate the changes alone. At Emballator, we help our customers stay compliant, reduce risk and prepare for future requirements.

What has changed?

Under the updated ADR 2025 regulations, UN markings must now be applied to a non-removable component of the packaging. This means that markings placed on removable parts, such as detachable lids, will no longer meet the requirements for newly manufactured packaging.

The objective is simple: to ensure that the marking remains visible and attached to the packaging throughout handling, transport and use.

Packaging already placed on the market before 31 December 2026 can continue to be used and does not need to be withdrawn or relabelled. However, any packaging manufactured after this date must comply with the updated marking requirements.

For detailed information on how the changes affect specific packaging types and applications, customers can refer to our Customer Instructions, where the applicable requirements and timelines are explained in full.

Why is this important?

UN markings play a critical role in the safe transport of dangerous goods. They provide essential information about the performance and approval status of the packaging and help ensure compliance with international transport regulations.

For companies handling paints, chemicals, lubricants, construction products and other hazardous materials, even small regulatory changes can have operational consequences.

Staying compliant is not only about meeting legal requirements. It is also about protecting people, goods, businesses and the environment.

Regulations surrounding dangerous goods transport continue to evolve. Keeping track of changes, understanding how they apply and identifying the right solution can be challenging.

That is where Emballator comes in.

When new requirements are introduced, uncertainty often follows.
